Great Fruit Smoothie Recipes

Fruit is a staple in the world of smoothies, so it’s not surprising that you are going to find an innumerable number of recipes in books and magazines that feature a wide variety of fruit combinations. The most common fruit used in smoothies is the banana, because it is naturally, sweet and it adds a really nice consistency to any type of smoothie.

Because bananas don’t have a strong flavor, they can be added to most smoothies, and they won’t take center stage unless they are added in large quantities. This means that if you don’t have any other fruit at home, you can combine bananas with ingredients like chocolate powder to make instant, tasty smoothies.

Today’s lineup features different combinations of fruits that you and your family will surely love. Once you have mastered the basics of making smoothies, we encourage you to try out other combinations, and to experiment with different ingredients and approaches to making smoothies.

For example, not everyone likes refined sugar, so you can try using honey and other natural sweeteners instead. Also, the more natural ingredients you use in your own recipes, the better the flavors and, generally, the better the smoothies will be for your body.

Sweet Berry Blend

Ingredients:
•    One cup of crushed ice
•    One quarter teaspoon of almonds (ground finely)
•    One tablespoon of organic honey
•    One tablespoon of freshly squeezed lime juice
•    Half cup of coconut milk
•    One cup of frozen blueberries
•    One cup of frozen bananas

Steps:
Slice two medium sized bananas and a cup of fresh blueberries, and freeze these ingredients for one to two hours. Two medium-sized bananas should yield a cup (feel free to reduce or increase as you please). Once your fruit is nicely frosty, combine the crushed ice, ground almonds, blueberries, bananas, and crushed ice in the food processor. Next, add one tablespoon of organic honey and one tablespoon of lime juice.

Pour the coconut milk in last, and stir a little before pureeing. Puree the mix for a few minutes, until all the ingredients have blended together smoothly. Pour in a tall serving glass and enjoy immediately. If you are not consuming the puree immediately, place your glass in the fridge so that it will remain cold.

The Cream-o-nator

Ingredients:
•    Two cups of crushed ice
•    A dash of salt
•    A dash of nutmeg
•    One quarter teaspoon of vanilla extract
•    Two tablespoons of organic honey
•    Half a cup of pure cottage cheese
•    Two cups of sliced fresh pineapple or canned pineapple chunks

Steps:
Begin this recipe by combining the sliced fresh pineapple/canned pineapple chunks with two cups of crushed ice, half a cup of cottage cheese, two tablespoons of honey, nutmeg, and a small dash of salt.

Stir the ingredients a little, and then add one quarter teaspoon of vanilla extract. Set your food processor to its highest setting, and blend everything for about four minutes. You should be able to see a creamy yellow color emerge after two minutes. Pour and share with others, too!
